I finally went and made a Substack.
I’ve been on Twitter for awhile — as a journalist, think tanker, student abroad, and now researcher in the Middle East. It’s been a great place to share notes with smart people, and share thoughts that aren’t worth an entire journalistic or academic article.
However, it’s time to move on from screaming into the Twitter void. Some ideas, even if they’re not article-worthy, deserve a bit more in-depth treatment than threads of 240 character posts. I’ll still tweet and follow the discourse, but Substack will hopefully replace Twitter as my primary notebook.
My current research is looking at how (mis)translated sources contribute to disinformation in Arabic-language media. The project is funded by a U.S. government grant. The writing here is mine alone; it does not represent the views of any government body or partner organization.
